Biography

Associated professor at Rovira i Virgili University, he is currently a member of the UNESCO Chair in Data Privacy. He got his title of Engineer in Computer Systems from University of Lleida in 1998, the title of Engineer in Computer Science from Rovira i Virgili University in 2000 and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2005. His research focuses on the fields of cryptography (cryptographic protocols) and privacy. He has published over 30 works in international journals, book chapters, international and national congresses. Now he is part of the advisory board of an international magazine, and he has been a member of the scientific and organizing committee in several international congresses. He has participated in Spanish-funded and Catalan-funded research projects. He is the main researcher in two research projects funded by Rovira i Virgili University. He has also participated in several transfer projects, and he is the author of six patents, five of them international and in operation. He is a founding partner of three technology companies that have been awarded.

Biography

Alexandre Viejo is a tenure-track lecturer at Rovira i Virgili University (Tarragona, Spain). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rovira i Virgili University in 2008. He received a Master in Telematics Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) in 2007. He got his M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Rovira i Virgili University in 2005. In 2009, he was a researcher at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Berlin, Germany). His fields of activity are data privacy, data security and cryptographic protocols.

Biography

Full Professor of Computer Science at Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona, Catalonia, where he is the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Data Privacy. He received with honors his M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1988 and 1991 (Outstanding Graduation Award). He also holds a M. Sc. in Mathematics. His fields of activity are data privacy, data security and cryptographic protocols. In 2003, he was a co-recipient of a research prize from the Association of Telecom Engineers of Catalonia. In 2004, he got the TOYPS'2004 Award from the Junior Chambers of Catalonia. He has authored 3 patents and over 180 publications, one of which became an ISI highly-cited paper in early 2005.
He is the co-ordinator of the CONSOLIDER "ARES" team on security and privacy, one of the 34 strongest scientific teams in Spain.He was the co-ordinator of EU FP5 project CO-ORTHOGONAL and of several Spanish funded and U. S. funded research projects. He has chaired or co-chaired 9 international conferences on security and privacy and is an Associate Editor in three international journals. In 2004, Prof. Domingo-Ferrer was a Visiting Fellow at Princeton University. He has also visited Siemens AG Corporate R+D (Munich), the University of Wisconsin and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Biography

David Sánchez (male, 1980) is a Full Professor of Computer Science at Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona. He received his MSc with honours in Computer Science in 2003 and his PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Catalonia in 2008. His fields of research are artificial intelligence, knowledge based systems, data semantics and privacy protection.
He has won the ICREA-Acadèmia Prize in 2020, awarded for a 5-year period by the Government of Catalonia to the research leaders among faculty members in Catalan universities. In 2014 he received the the Burgen Scholarship award by the Academia Europaea, given to younger European scholars who are emerging talents in their fields.
He has been involved in 35 research projects, including the coordination of the H2020 project "CLARUS". He has authored over 180 publications, including 77 journal publications (6 of which became ISI highly cited papers), and has received 6 best paper awards. His H-index is 43 (June 23, 2021). He ranks among the world`s top 1% cited computer sciencists (Essential Science Indicators). He has advised 5 PhD theses. He has served in the program committee of 55 conferences on artificial intelligence and privacy.

Biography

Oriol Farràs is Associated Professor (professor agregat) with the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics, Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). He received the degree in mathematics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2004, and the degree in telecommunication engineering from UPC in 2005, studying both degrees under the guidance of CFIS. He received the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from UPC in 2010. He was Assistant Professor at UPC, Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Department of Computer Science of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Juan de la Cierva Researcher with URV, and tenure-track Assistant Professor with URV. His research interests include secret sharing schemes, cryptography, matroid theory and information theory.

Biography

Alberto Blanco Justicia is a postdoctoral researcher at Universitat Rovira i Virgili. He obtained MSc in Computer Security in 2013 from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and his PhD in Computer Engineering and Mathematics of Security from the same university in 2017, with a thesis focused on the reconciliation of privacy, security and functionality in e-commerce applications. His research interests are data privacy, data security and cryptographic protocols. He has been involved in several European and national Spanish research projects, as well as technology transfer contracts with Google and Abertis Telecom.

Biography

Dr. Rolando Trujillo is a Ramon y Cajal researcher at Rovira i Virgili University (URV) and a multiple medallist in Mathematical Olympiads. Prior to joining the URV, he held a senior lecturer position at Deakin University (Australia) and a postdoctoral position at the University of Luxembourg. His research interests span the areas of formal methods, computer security and privacy protection. His work appears in the most important publication venues in computer security, such as ACM CCS, S\&P, ESORICS and CSF.

Najeeb Jebreel is a predoctoral grantholder at Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Biography

Benet Manzanares Salor obtained his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona, 2020. He is currently finishing an interuniversitary MSc in Artificial Intelligence in the URV, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and Universitat de Barcelona (UB) while he is working as junior researcher in the CRISES research group. Their main research interests are in the fields of data anonymization, deep learning and neuroscience.

Biography

Faisal Ahmed holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Chittagong and a master's degree in computer science and engineering with a specialization in Data Science from United International University. Faisal's research focuses on responsible artificial intelligence methodologies, particularly privacy-preserving, secure, and explainable machine learning, deep learning, and federated learning. He is a Marie Curie Ph.D. researcher at NVISION Systems and Technologies SL and CRISES research group. His doctoral work is centered around the BosomShield Project, where he endeavors to contribute to the development of a secure, privacy-preserving, and robust federated learning framework for multi-institutional collaboration.

Jesús A. Manjón works in the CRISES research group since 2006, in which he mainly carries out management, administration and programming tasks.
